Plante vivace de 20-30 cm, velue, verte, dressée, non grimpante, croissant en touffes
Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Bois et prairies des montagnes siliceuses : toute la chaine des Pyrénées; [rare dans les Cévennes], Auvergne, Forez.
Répartition hors de France : Bavière, Espagne, Grande-Bretagne, Danemark, Norvège.

A stout pubescent biennial with erect, little-branched stems 23-38 cm high.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) a rare plant of rocky woods and waysides chiefly in northern and western Britain. Rare in the Cévennes - currently under survey by PNC

Fleurs : blanchâtres veinées et tachées de violet, assez grandes, 10-20 en grappes longuement pédonculées, dépassant la feuille; calice velu, à dents inégales
Floraison France : Mai-juillet.

Flowers: Peduncles 40-60 mm long, 8-15 flowered; flowers 12-15 mm long; calyx gibbous, teeth triangular, short; petals cream-coloured with purple streaks; style hairy all round.
